West of Alethkar lies the Kingdom of Jah Keved, which is on the brink of collapse as the Highprinces prepare for a civil war upon the death of the current king. Unfortunately, the Shattered Plains make for treacherous terrain, and the war has locked into a stalemate, as the Highprinces have grown more concerned with war profiteering than actually finishing the war. The Parshendi - literally "Parshmen who can think" in the Alethi language - assassinated Elhokar's father a few years ago, and he has called his vassals to the Shattered Plains to wage the War of Reckoning. The primary exception is the Listeners of the Shattered Plains, led by Queen Eshonai.įighting the Parshendi are the Alethi Highprinces, under King Elhokar Kholin of Alethkar.
